INTRODUCTION

Emerson University, Multan, one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the region, boasts a library that serves as a haven for bibliophiles and scholars alike. The library houses an extensive collection of classical and contemporary works along with a diverse array of resources across disciplines. Students and Researchers of Computer Science, Emerging Technologies, Management Sciences & Accountancy, Biochemistry & Biotechnology, Forensic Sciences, Microbiology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Islamic Studies, Political Science & International Relations and History & Pakistan Studies fulfill their information needs from the library. The library also holds a vast collection of leisure reading to develop reading habits in students. In addition to its physical collections, the library offers access to the HEC Digital Library and a range of online academic resources, ensuring that students and faculty have the tools they need for advanced research. The library is thoughtfully designed with separate seating areas for male and female students, as well as for faculty members, fostering a conducive environment for study. Complementing the main library are seven departmental libraries, each contributing to the vibrant learning and research culture at Emerson University, Multan.

LIBRARY’S OBJECTIVES

Emerson University Library supports academic mission of the institution and provides information resources to students, researchers and faculty members in print as well as digital format that align with the curriculum. The information needs of the patrons are assessed, analyzed and fulfilled accordingly with the help of existing material and other sources. Furthermore, library trains its users for information retrieval and assist them in their research endeavors by providing access to specialized tools and resources. Library also creates environment through book exhibitions, book fairs and other relevant events that encourage students for self-directed learning beyond formal education. Besides, workshops, seminars, conferences, hands-on-training and information literacy sessions are organized to support the library patrons in their research projects and to motivate them to become a lifelong learner. Similarly, policies and procedures for using different library services and resources are also formulated and interpreted for the ease of the patrons and optimum use of the library. Moreover, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for different library functions and processes are created to provide smooth, interruption free, services to library patrons.

1. Print Resources

Library contains thousands of course related and general books on different subjects, besides, encyclopedias, dictionary, manuals, handbooks and textbooks are also part of library collection. Moreover, Library receive number of locally published journals and magazines on multiple subjects. Furthermore, library subscribes Urdu and English Newspapers for patrons.
