OVERVIEW

Emerson University Multan came into being hundred years after the establishment of Emerson College Multan. It is the largest education institution In South Punjab. The Department of Urdu is one of the important departments of the University. The Department was established in 1963. Quaid-e-Azam declared Urdu as the only national language of Pakistan. Urdu has special importance as national language. It is playing an important role as a language of effective communication in the country. Urdu is not only a language but also a civilization with a history of hundreds of years of civilization of the Subcontinent. It is the language of teaching, learning, research and media in all the universities of Pakistan.
The Students of Urdu can adopt teaching profession in schools, colleges and universities. There are vast job opportunities for students in print media, electronic media and social media and many other fields. The students can become scriptwriters on various TV Channels and serve as translators in various government, semi-Government and private institution. Urdu chairs and Urdu Department are functional in many countries of the world. The students of this department are serving in Pakistan and in many other countries. The Department is playing a significant role in nurturing the minds of students, researchers, writers, critics and teachers. We are promoting teaching, research, language and literary trends. Currently the department is offering BS Urdu program. We have experienced and highly qualified teachers and a well-organized library. We offer the best learning environment and opportunities to our students.

The Department of Islamic Studies has been running since under the kind supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Awan (Head of department). BS (Islamic Studies) has been started from September in former Govt. Emerson College Multan (Affiliated with Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan). The Government shall, by notification, reconstitute the Govt. Emerson College Multan as The Emerson University Multan under the Act 2012(V of 2020). The department of Islamic Studies is as Islamic Studies since 2013. The department holds its distinction being versatile in day to day life of each human being as a Muslim. Since the inauguration of BS (4- Years) program in the discipline of Islamic Studies, it has established, it worth among the applications. A good merit policy is maintained with a dedicated faculty to teach the HEC recognized syllabus.

MISSION

The Department aims to promote national language and literature and to establish the value of Urdu as a Subject nationally and globally.

Institute of Islamic Studies aims to be recognized as the Islamic world knowledge hub that delivers and caters world class research, teaching and learning environment by developing, expanding and enhancing research programs led by exemplary faculty for competent and efficient students. It intends to enable students to serve as faithful representatives of a practiced Islam that is, according to the pattern of God’s Messenger and his Companions, gracious and patient with religious diversity; an Islam based on sound knowledge that the students have acquired for themselves and which they carry back into their communities; an Islam practiced as a commitment to respect, care for and serve others; an Islam secured not by attachment to communal identity but by attachment to God. To develop and support harmony between different religions and sects of society and to relate to others with tolerance, respect and consideration, whatever their beliefs and attitudes may be.
