DURATION: 04 YEARS (08 SEMESTERS) | CREDIT HOURS: 132

OVERVIEW

Botany is fundamental to our understanding of plant biology, ecology, and their role in sustaining life on Earth. At Emerson University, the botany program integrates classroom learning with practical training in plant pathology, plant breeding techniques, herbarium preparation, and horticulture. Students also gain hands-on experience through activities such as mushroom cultivation, vermicomposting, and kitchen gardening, preparing them for careers in agriculture, research, biotechnology, and environmental management.

VISION

The vision of a Botany department typically involves being a leading contributor in plant sciences, known for excellence in research, teaching, and innovation, while also contributing to the broader societal and environmental needs related to plants. Botany departments often aim to address real-world problems related to plant sciences, such as food security, environmental sustainability, and conservation of biodiversity.
The vision often involves equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities they need to succeed in diverse careers, including research, agriculture, biotechnology, and environmental management.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
Some departments emphasize the importance of collaboration with other institutions, industry partners, and government agencies to advance plant sciences and address societal needs.

MISSION
