OVERVIEW
The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) has been established following the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Our mission is to serve as a cornerstone for policymakers by offering robust academic expertise to inform and enhance the decision-making process.

The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) is a cornerstone of academic excellence and a hub for fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship within the university. As the ORIC department, our primary goal is to cultivate an ecosystem where groundbreaking research and transformative ideas thrive, leading to significant contributions to society, industry, and the economy.
We are committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry by facilitating collaborations, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing opportunities that address real-world challenges. ORIC serves as a platform to empower faculty, researchers, and students to explore new frontiers of knowledge and develop innovative solutions that align with national priorities and global trends.
In addition to supporting high-quality research, ORIC focuses on commercializing academic inventions, ensuring that intellectual property generated by the university contributes to societal advancement and economic growth. By connecting researchers with funding agencies, industries, and policymakers, we aim to transform the university into a research-driven institution that not only produces knowledge but also translates it into practical and sustainable outcomes.

The ORIC is also responsible for assuring that the quality of research reflects the highest international standards and advances the stature of the university among the world’s best research institutions. In pursuit of this mission the ORIC has the responsibility of guaranteeing that all research programs and policies reflect the core values of academic freedom, professional integrity and ethical conduct and full compliance with all policies, legal requirements and operational standards of the university.

KEY FUNCTIONS OF ORIC
- Setting the strategic research directions and policies in accordance with the university’s research and development vision
- Ensuring conducive research and development culture so that research remains an integral component of academic activities in the university
- Encouraging university wide culture, focused on nurturing entrepreneurial orientation within students, through outcome-oriented industry-academia linkages and by widening the partnerships with the public and private sector organizations, national and international donors and all other community-based organizations.
- Future plans of the ORIC are to further expand its activities to support both academics as well as industry to promote collaborative research so that maximum benefits could be transferred to the community in real time. The ORIC plans to continue its Social Outreach Programs to create awareness and mobilize community to come forward for various social issues related to our society.
