Introduction

Department of Statistics at former Govt. Emerson College with a history of 100 years was established in 1964 under the supervision of Riaz Ahmad Cheema, who served as first chairman. The Department was quenching the thirst of students of Southern Punjab. The teaching of Statistics was limited to Inter & Degree classes in those days. The first batch of BS-4 year program was offered in 2010, Multan. In 2021, Emerson University is starting first batch of BS-4years program. Incepted with regular programs of BS-4 years, the Department also intends to start programs in MPhil soon.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Statistics is to contribute to the overall objects of Emerson University and to deliver a high-quality statistics program for our majors and minors. The department focuses on producing highly skilled manpower, scholars and researchers to meet the contemporary and future challenges. We are yielding for the provision of highly trained and skilled graduates to meet the demands of private and public sectors of the country. The Department is also striving for its inclusion in the list of top ranked statistics Depa rtments around the country and the world.
